Bihar is set to receive a substantial investment boost with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Purnia. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced the launch of projects worth over ₹40,000 crore on Monday, September 15th. The visit includes the unveiling of the interim terminal at Purnia Airport, initiating commercial flights and enhancing transportation options for residents of the Seemanchal region. Reflecting on past support, the Deputy Chief Minister noted that the Prime Minister had previously granted a special economic package of ₹1.65 lakh crore to the state in 2015. The visit will involve the launch of many projects including those under the Namami Gange program in Bhagalpur, a sex-sorted semen production center in Purnia, and a railway line stretching from Araria to Galgaliya. The new airport terminal is a strategic move to reinforce Bihar’s air connectivity, particularly given that the airport features the longest runway within the state. This visit will encompass the foundation laying of several critical initiatives, including a thermal power project in Bhagalpur, water supply projects in different districts, and the distribution of community investment funds under the NRLM scheme. Further, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and flag off several new railway services for the region.
