Officials in Bihar are dealing with a disturbing case of identity theft and fraud involving an application for a residential certificate. The application, submitted online, used the name and image of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, leading to an investigation and the filing of an FIR in the Saraiya police station area. Revenue Officer Abhishek Singh confirmed that the application was designed to damage the Chief Minister’s image and challenge the integrity of the government’s procedures. The fraudulent application, numbered BRCCO/2025/6940816, requested a residential certificate in the name of CM Nitish Kumar. The photo of the Chief Minister was used in the application. The investigation, conducted after the discovery of the fraud, has now led to the police searching for the person responsible using technical methods, including tracking the IP address. Police have promised to find and arrest the individual behind the act soon.
