    Following a social media post from Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav that highlighted 17 alleged criminal incidents in Bihar, the state police responded by dismissing the claims. A spokesperson from the police headquarters provided a detailed account of recent cases, detailing their handling and the outcomes. The police stated that they have addressed all reported incidents, regardless of severity, with the utmost attention, leading to case resolutions, arrests, and subsequent actions. Addressing Yadav’s post, the police clarified that the incidents mentioned by him, specifically the killing of a farmer in Rohtas and the murder of an 18-year-old in Bettiah, had no bearing on the allegations. The spokesperson emphasized the ongoing efforts to bring criminals to justice. Between January and June of this year, courts across the state penalized 64,989 individuals in 46,616 cases, with punishments ranging from the death penalty and life imprisonment to terms exceeding 10 years. The police underscored that the context provided by the Leader of the Opposition regarding certain incidents differed from the reality. The police provided specific information on several cases. The murder of a businessman in Motihari for ransom is connected to the Chakia police station. Asharfi Sah reported to Kalyanpur police station on August 10 that his son, Neeraj, was kidnapped by Shubham Kumar and others, who demanded two lakh rupees as ransom, with threats of violence. Neeraj’s body was recovered on August 11 in Chawar, within the Paru police station area of Muzaffarpur district. All six suspects named in the complaint have been arrested. The Patna case involving the kidnapping and murder of a father and son is linked to the Khagaul police station. On August 6, Vishal was assaulted and kidnapped; his body was recovered on August 8, leading to the immediate arrest of five suspects. One additional suspect surrendered to the court. In Samastipur, the shooting of Gudiya Kumari in Parsa, Telia Tola, under the Shivaji Nagar police station, on August 11, is under investigation by the FSL and DIU teams, with the Rosada SDPO overseeing the investigation. Regarding the incident in Muzaffarpur where a youth was reportedly murdered, the police stated that a body was found on August 11 in the Paru police station area. The body showed signs of a throat-slitting wound, and its identity is yet to be confirmed. The FSL team is conducting an investigation. In Sitamarhi, the murder of a woman and a child in Patdaura Tola on August 12 is under investigation by the FSL team, with ongoing efforts to identify the victims. The murder of a woman in Gulzarbagh village, Nalanda, on August 11, where Sanjay Manjhi is accused of killing his wife, Girani Devi, with a hoe, is also under investigation. An incident involving two individuals being shot and injured near Kathpul, under the Mehandiganj police station in Patna, on August 10, is being investigated with ongoing raids to apprehend the suspects. The murder of a widowed woman in Chandpur village, Raushanganj police station, Gaya, on August 8, is under investigation, with a team formed to identify the perpetrators. In Supaul, the murder of a Sarpanch’s son in Bhaptiyahi on August 10 has resulted in the arrest of four individuals; further investigations are ongoing. The murder of Nikhil Kumar in Sarmera, Nalanda, on August 3, led to the arrest and imprisonment of six people. The investigation continues in the murder case at Adhaura police station, Kaimur, on August 7. The investigation is ongoing to identify the criminals involved in the shooting of a youth in Repura Bazar, Jiradei area, Siwan. In Lawabar village, Kothi police station, Gaya, an individual was beaten to death on August 11, with six FIR accused arrested, and further action is planned. In Atari police station, Gaya, ten FIR accused have been arrested in connection with the murder of a youth on August 9. In Darbhanga, Rahul Kumar, a 25-year-old, was shot dead on August 5 in Benta police station, attributed to a love affair; the girl’s father has been arrested in connection to the crime.
