Bihar is experiencing a flurry of political activity in anticipation of the upcoming assembly elections. Various political parties are targeting each other. The Janata Dal United (JDU) has criticized the Congress party’s CWC meeting. Congress National Spokesperson Rajesh Rathore stated that the CWC meeting, which is being held in Bihar for the first time since independence, marks the beginning of a ‘second freedom struggle’. The CWC meeting will focus on developing a strategy for the 2025 Bihar assembly elections and reinforcing the commitment to democracy. Here’s a summary of the latest developments in Bihar politics.

1- Congress: CWC Meeting in Patna to Reshape India
The Congress party believes that its CWC meeting in Patna will be a pivotal event, impacting the nation’s future. The meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, will be attended by key leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states, and other senior figures. Rajesh Rathore, the party’s national spokesperson, emphasized the historical significance and strategic importance of the meeting. The focus is on addressing anti-democratic actions and policies and creating a plan for the 2025 elections, while reaffirming the commitment to democracy.

2- JDU Accuses Congress of ‘Seasonal Love’ for Bihar
The Janata Dal United (JDU) has criticized the Congress’s decision to hold a CWC meeting in Patna. JDU spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad suggested that the meeting is a result of the Congress’s past actions, which allegedly included insulting the people of Bihar. He cited instances of disrespect from Congress leaders and allies. Prasad believes the meeting is merely a political tactic, unlikely to yield any positive results, and foresees challenges for the Congress in the upcoming elections.

3- BJP Highlights Development Under Nitish Kumar’s Government
Nitin Naveen, the state’s Road Construction Minister, credited the Nitish Kumar government with the development of Bihar. He highlighted infrastructure projects in Patna, such as the Bapu Auditorium and Gyan Bhavan, as evidence of progress. He contrasted the current 24-hour electricity supply with the past and urged Congress members to observe the developments in Patna, including the construction of Marine Drive and JP Path. He also mentioned Rahul Gandhi’s previous visit to Bihar.

4- BJP Criticizes Congress’s Past Governance
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary accused the Congress party of corruption and looting the nation for 55 years. He welcomed those who wish to join and highlighted Rahul Gandhi’s observation of infrastructure improvements. Chaudhary also referred to a past incident involving Lalu Prasad and his family, emphasizing the transparency of the related legal matters.

5- LJP (Ram Vilas) Holds Meeting to Plan for Elections
The LJP (Ram Vilas), an NDA ally, held a parliamentary party meeting in Patna to strategize for the upcoming assembly elections. The meeting, led by Hulas Pandey, focused on strategies to secure victory across all 243 seats. The party has authorized Hulas Pandey to select potential candidates and constituencies, with the final list to be presented to the Central Parliamentary Board.

6- JDU Counters Claims on Tourism and Employment
JDU spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad refuted the Leader of Opposition’s accusations, stating that Tejashwi Yadav’s claims about the Bihar government and tourism development are false. Prasad highlighted the positive impacts of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s policies and good governance. He emphasized investments in religious, historical, and eco-tourism projects, including the Buddhist circuit initiatives, Nalanda University’s reconstruction, and infrastructure improvements in Patna.

7- Congress CWC Meeting Seen as a Pressure Strategy
Umesh Singh Kushwaha, Bihar Janata Dal (U) president, views the Congress Working Committee meeting in Patna as a strategic move to pressure the Mahagathbandhan and secure more seats. He noted the existing tensions among coalition partners and downplayed the significance of the meeting for the Congress party’s political prospects in Bihar.
