Tejashwi Yadav, a key leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has been appointed as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. This transition occurs as incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has resigned, signaling the imminent formation of a new government post-election.

Yadav, who won his election from Raghopur, will lead the opposition for the second time. His party’s performance in the Bihar Assembly elections saw the RJD secure 25 seats, contributing to the Mahagathbandhan’s overall tally of 35 seats. This positions the RJD as the principal opposition party.

The recent elections resulted in a significant mandate for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Nitish Kumar. The NDA secured an impressive 202 seats out of 243, with the BJP winning 89 seats and the JD(U) winning 85 seats. The RJD’s seat count of 25 places it at the forefront of the opposition, with Tejashwi Yadav at its helm.
