Bihar Sex Ratio Plummets: CRS Report Reveals Decline

A recent report from the Civil Registration System (CRS) has revealed a concerning trend in Bihar: a significant decline in the sex ratio. The report, using 2022 data, indicates that the number of girls born per 1,000 boys has dropped to 891. This marks a concerning decrease from 2020, when the ratio was 964, and 2021, when the ratio was 908. Despite Bihar’s relatively positive ranking in terms of the total number of female births, the declining sex ratio at birth demands attention.
