A significant development in Bihar’s tourism sector includes the construction of three new five-star hotels, with an MoU signed in Patna between the state government and Kumar Infratech. The event was attended by Tourism Minister Raju Kumar Singh. The initiative is part of the government’s plan to enhance tourist facilities in Patna through public-private partnerships. The first hotel will be built on the premises of Hotel Patliputra Ashok by the ITC Hotel group over the next four years, with an agreement signed between ITC Hotels and BSTDC. The hotel will be built on 1.5 acres of land and feature at least 140 rooms, offering a high-end hospitality experience. Kumar Infratech Enterprises Private Limited, Patna, had previously received the Letter of Award, and they selected ITC to manage the five-star hotel. The tender process for a five-star hotel at the Bankipur Bus Stand complex is nearing completion. Moreover, a committee under the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth is evaluating the potential for a five-star hotel on the Sultan Palace land, considering its heritage value. The selection of construction companies will follow the committee’s recommendations. Furthermore, there are plans for two five-star hotels in Rajgir and one in Vaishali. The tender process for the guest house in Valmiki Nagar, constructed by the Building Construction Department, will be open to companies that meet the criteria for operating a five-star hotel. Kumar Infratech’s director, Manish Kumar, mentioned ITC Hotels’ operational start in Bodh Gaya and the Patna agreement with ITC. Anil Chaddha of the ITC group confirmed that the hotel would be completed within four years. The event saw the presence of senior officials from the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation and the Department of Tourism. The construction of these hotels will be governed by the Infrastructure Development Enabling Amendment Act 2023.
