The voter list revision process (SIR) in Bihar is underway, with the initial phase completed. The revision shows a reduction in the number of registered voters compared to the data from June 24, 2025, prompting discussion about voter rights.

The Election Commission has stated that it will adhere to proper procedures to ensure fairness in the process. The aim of the SIR, according to the commission, is to protect every voter’s right.

The draft voter list will be open for public review from August 1st to September 1st. This period is essential for verifying the accuracy of the voter list before its finalization on September 30th.

Voters have the opportunity to rectify any errors or omissions in the draft list. Both voters and political parties can lodge objections with the EROs and AEROs of their respective assembly constituencies by September 1, 2025.

During the initial phase of SIR, 72.4 million forms were collected in Bihar. The current count is 8% lower than the total registered voters before the SIR began on June 24th. This reduction is significant when compared to the voter count from previous elections.
