The state of Bihar is pioneering a new strategy for empowering women through its ‘Mahila Samvad’ initiative. Launched by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the program saw participation across 70,000 locations throughout the state, fostering direct conversations with women. The program, which ran for a month, collected more than one lakh suggestions from various departments. The suggestions are being reviewed to create robust, sustainable, and useful plans for the public. The program focused on health-related issues and is working to provide all necessary facilities according to the needs of women. Based on the received suggestions, new action plans will be developed. The construction of essential infrastructure, such as schools, Anganwadi centers, and water sources, will be prioritized.
