Hill Chowk became the site of a significant tribute ceremony on Saturday, celebrating the birth anniversary of the revered Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Former MLA Koche Munda of Torpa offered floral tributes at the local statue, commemorating the tribal leader’s legacy. The occasion was graced by local elected officials, BJP party workers, and a substantial number of villagers.
Koche Munda addressed the gathering, recognizing Bhagwan Birsa Munda as a pivotal figure in India’s fight for independence and a champion for tribal rights. He spoke of the ‘Ulgulan’ rebellion, led by Birsa Munda against the British Raj, which symbolized a powerful resistance and societal awakening. Munda emphasized that Birsa Munda’s life story, characterized by immense struggle, sacrifice, and a commitment to social upliftment, serves as a perpetual source of inspiration. He urged the youth to internalize his teachings and dedicate themselves to the progress of society and the nation. Among the dignitaries present were Santosh Jaiswal and Vinod Bhagat, members of the BJP State Working Committee, and various other party leaders and activists.
