Telangana BJP spokesperson Prakash Reddy has delivered a pointed critique of Bihar’s opposition coalition, the Mahagathbandhan, describing it as a “divided bandhan” on the cusp of state elections. Reddy emphasized the lack of unity among its key members, including the Congress and RJD, and predicted a significant electoral setback for the alliance.
“The Mahagathbandhan has devolved into a ‘divided bandhan,’ lacking the cohesive unity expected of a political alliance. This includes the Congress party, the RJD, and other associated parties. They are clearly fragmented. The NDA is not competing against a united front, but a divided one. The public recognizes this disunity. My prediction is that the Mahagathbandhan will face a severe defeat and will not come into power,” Reddy articulated.
Reddy also addressed Rahul Gandhi’s role, questioning his limited engagement in the Bihar campaign. He suggested that Gandhi’s earlier ‘vote chori’ padayatra had negative repercussions, leading him to now distance himself from Bihar. “Rahul Gandhi’s ‘vote chori’ padayatra has been followed by his absence from the Bihar campaign. When questioned about his ‘vote chori’ claims, he seems to be avoiding Bihar. His influence in Bihar politics is marginal, with any significance primarily stemming from the RJD. Furthermore, infighting within the RJD family exacerbates their credibility issues. Voters are disillusioned with both the RJD and Congress,” he observed.
Reddy further drew a parallel to Telangana, accusing the Congress of failing to implement its promised welfare schemes. He suggested that this history of unfulfilled commitments would be a significant factor for voters in Bihar. “The Congress’s unfulfilled guarantees in Telangana are a clear example, and this same exposure awaits them in Bihar,” he stated. Reddy expressed strong confidence in the NDA’s electoral prospects, asserting, “The NDA will form the government in Bihar on November 14.”
The political arena in Bihar for the 2025 elections is primarily set between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan. The Mahagathbandhan includes the RJD, Congress, CPI-ML, CPI, CPM, and VIP. The NDA coalition consists of the BJP, JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM (Secular), and RLMO. Notably, Jan Suraaj, led by Prashant Kishor, is also contesting all 243 seats. The Bihar assembly elections are scheduled for November 6 and 11, with results to be declared on November 14.
