The Bombay High Court has effectively grounded Bollywood personality Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her husband, Raj Kundra, prohibiting them from traveling internationally. This decision comes in the wake of a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), requiring the couple to obtain court or agency permission before any foreign travel.

Representing Shilpa Shetty, her lawyer informed the court about her commitment to a YouTube event in Colombo, scheduled for October 25th to 29th. The court’s request for a formal invitation was met with the condition that it would be procured once travel permissions were secured. Crucially, the court stated that a deposit of Rs 60 crore, pertaining to fraud allegations, would be a prerequisite for considering any travel requests. The case is scheduled for its next hearing on October 14, 2025.

The allegations center on businessman Deepak Kothari’s claim that Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra conspired to defraud him of more than Rs 60 crore. Kothari alleges that money designated for business expansion from 2015 to 2023 was instead diverted for personal expenses. There have been reports that Raj Kundra suggested part of the sum was paid as fees to actresses Bipasha Basu and Neha Dhupia. Sources indicate that Kundra was unforthcoming on several key aspects during his extensive interrogation by the EOW, leading to plans for more questioning. Investigators are also reportedly scrutinizing financial records that reveal direct transfers from company accounts to those of four actresses, including Shilpa Shetty, Bipasha Basu, and Neha Dhupia, as well as transactions linked to Balaji Entertainment.
