The engagement, held at a luxury hotel in Lucknow on Saturday, was a private affair with numerous notable guests. Priya Saroj is a young politician and lawyer. Currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Machhlishahr, she is 26 years old. She is the daughter of Tufani Saroj, a former three-time MP and current MLA from Kerakat. Priya entered politics and was elected for the first time in the 2024 general elections representing the Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav. She was born in Varanasi on November 23, 1998, and received her education at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi. She earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Pradesh University (Turkey) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Amity University, Noida. Before her political career, she practiced law in the Supreme Court of India. It is believed that her initial ambition was to become a judge which led her to pursue a career in politics. In the 2024 elections, she won the Machhlishahr seat, previously held by her father, by a margin of 35,850 votes, campaigning on issues such as youth employment and women’s empowerment.
