BSNL has introduced eSIM service, allowing users to enjoy calls and internet access without a physical SIM card. This development marks BSNL’s entry into the eSIM market, directly competing with private telecom operators such as Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi). The move signifies BSNL’s commitment to upgrading its services and enhancing its competitive position.

For its eSIM service, BSNL has teamed up with Tata Communications. The MOVE platform from Tata Communications will manage eSIM subscriptions, enabling efficient distribution to a large customer base. This collaboration underscores BSNL’s commitment to providing its customers with a superior mobile connectivity experience.

BSNL’s eSIM is compatible with 2G, 3G, and 4G networks, making it accessible to a broad range of users with eSIM-enabled devices. According to A. Robert Ravi, Managing Director and Chairman of BSNL, the nationwide eSIM service will enhance telecom capabilities.

BSNL, having launched its 4G service, is now focused on deploying 5G. Reports indicate that BSNL plans to launch 5G services by the end of 2025, with initial rollouts anticipated in Delhi and Mumbai.
