The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) has achieved a major milestone by orchestrating ₹52 crore in refunds for aggrieved consumers over a nine-month period. From late April to the end of January, the helpline addressed nearly 80,000 complaints, providing a vital safety net in the booming digital economy. Under the framework of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the NCH has streamlined the grievance process, making it accessible in 17 different languages. The ministry noted that the majority of successful interventions were in the e-commerce sector, which saw over 47,000 cases resolved. This proactive approach to dispute resolution underscores the government’s commitment to protecting citizen interests against service lapses and fraudulent practices.
