BSE Sensex Nifty Close Higher by 1% Amid Global Optimism
1 min readGlobal market positivity propelled Indian benchmarks to close in green for the second day running on Thursday. BSE Sensex advanced 789.74 points (1.06%) to 75,398.72, and Nifty 50 rose 277 points (1.18%) to 23,689.60.
Intraday, Sensex fluctuated from an open of 74,947.12 to a high of 75,681.88, while Nifty moved from 23,530.25 to 23,777.20, both posting over 1% gains.
Nifty Midcap climbed 1.12%, contrasting a slight 0.01% dip in Smallcap. Pharma, healthcare, and metal sectors dazzled with 2%+ increases. Financial services, PSU banks, private banks, and consumer durables gained over 1%, but IT plunged nearly 2%.
Among Nifty 50 constituents, 38 advanced sharply: Adani Enterprises (+8.8%), Cipla (+8.09%), Bharti Airtel (+5.2%), alongside Eternal, Hindalco, Dr. Reddy’s Labs, HDFC Bank, Adani Ports, and Max Health. Drag came from Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, Coal India, and TCS.
BSE’s total market cap surged Rs 4.3 lakh crore to Rs 462.9 lakh crore from Rs 458.6 lakh crore.
The rally was unfazed by rupee’s plunge to all-time lows and Brent crude above $105. Investors watch the Trump-Xi summit closely for trade war cues.
