Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Engages Workers, Farmers on Budget Needs

Thursday marked a significant step in Delhi’s budget-building process as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta convened with representatives from labor unions, gig platforms, driving communities, farming groups, and village councils at the Delhi Secretariat. The pre-2026-27 budget talks sought to embed societal expectations into the fiscal framework.

Tailored sessions allowed each cohort to articulate challenges and aspirations, with Gupta attentively noting every point and committing to their integration. ‘Janbhagidari fuels our vision of a thriving Delhi,’ she affirmed.

Labor Minister Kapil Mishra and Rajkumar Chauhan of the Delhi Gram Vikas Board participated actively. Key labor demands featured gig workers’ push for ’employee’ status, pension and health integrations, and a focused advocacy unit.

Drivers urged safe parking expansions, EV infrastructure boosts, and women-specific subsidies. The agenda also covered rest havens for staff, toilet proliferation, traffic law tweaks, and labor code synchronization.

Rural voices emphasized agricultural enhancements: superior irrigation, road networks, mandi efficiencies, plus core amenities like drainage systems, clean water, electricity, and sanitation. These exchanges highlight a governance model rooted in dialogue.

With such comprehensive input, Delhi’s forthcoming budget is set to address inequities head-on, promoting welfare for workers and farmers while propelling the capital’s holistic advancement.
