Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid out a blueprint for revolutionizing Indian agriculture through exports during a key post-budget webinar. ‘Time has come to amplify export-based production and weave it into global chains,’ he stated, predicting a surge in employment and farmer empowerment.
From New Delhi, via video link, Modi described agriculture as economy’s core and strategic asset. Entering a new era demands dynamic changes: focus on exports, diverse crops, and modern tech to align with worldwide shifts.
He lauded the 2026-27 Budget’s farmer-centric reforms for higher yields and incomes. Unity among experts, businesses, and growers is essential for competitive high-value farming and superior global market access.
Elevate standards for quality and branding, Modi advised. Promote organics for health, position fisheries as export stars, and innovate business models for rural wealth via premium crops: cashew, coconut, sandalwood, agarwood, almonds, walnuts, pine nuts.
Boost private investments in animal rearing and coastal fishing. Extend SHE-Mart for women SHGs’ market reach. Digital strides include 7.63 crore farmer IDs and 23.5 crore plot mappings under Digital Mission.
Budget’s Rs 1,62,671 crore outlay, 7% up, fuels high-value initiatives: coastal nuts and palms, Northeast woods, mountain nuts. Sitharaman’s vision integrates income hikes, job generation, tech upgrades—solidifying food sovereignty and village vitality in India’s growth story.
