A key highlight was the Northeast’s spotlight, as DoNER’s budget swells to Rs 6,812 crore—a Rs 897 crore jump—demonstrating the Centre’s dedication to regional acceleration. Assam secures Rs 49,725 crore in tax devolution for FY 2026-27, building on the Rs 3.12 lakh crore transferred since 2014, ensuring steady financial inflows for state-led initiatives.
In health, the ambitious BioPharma Shakti program gets Rs 10,000 crore across five years to counter rising non-communicable diseases through indigenous biologics and biosimilars production. Biologics, complex therapies from cellular sources for oncology and immunology, paired with economical biosimilars, will be prioritized. Institutions such as NIPER Guwahati will be fortified for cutting-edge research and talent nurturing.
The agriculture budget hits Rs 1,32,561 crore, embodying the government’s farmer-first ethos. Innovation gets a Rs 9,967 crore boost via education and R&D funding, while Rs 1,70,944 crore in subsidies guarantees low-cost fertilizers, slashing cultivation expenses. Chouhan’s vision positions the budget as a catalyst for nationwide progress, with the Northeast poised for unprecedented momentum.
