Efforts to crown Manipur’s Tamenglong as the state’s honey capital gain momentum with PMDDKY training over 100 farmers in modern beekeeping. As part of a nationwide selection of 100 aspirational districts, this partnership-driven program delivers hives, funds, and expertise for transformative results.

With 500 beehives deployed and CSR aid providing 8,000-rupee kits, the focus is on elevating bee colonies for 1,000-liter monthly outputs. Collaboration with Ambernath’s Buzzwardi Venture ensures technical guidance, while nodal visits keep momentum high. COO Vaibhav Trimukhe predicts a paradigm shift from rudimentary methods to high-yield science, amplifying farmer revenues.

The Union Cabinet’s July 2025 nod launches this six-year venture from 2025-26, selecting districts via metrics like low crop intensity and financing shortages. Drawing from NITI Aayog successes, PMDDKY is India’s first targeted honey enhancement scheme amid booming exports over 1,500 crore rupees.

Tamenglong’s journey underscores rural innovation’s power. Farmers, once reliant on forests, now harness structured support to build resilient apiaries. This could spark a cascade of similar successes, enhancing livelihoods, biodiversity, and India’s position in the global honey trade.
