A new wave of entrepreneurship is sweeping through Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri as 35 educated unemployed youth dive into PMEGP’s EDP training at RSETI Rajouri. This KVIC-backed initiative, operationalized via J&K Bank, is set to catalyze small business launches with subsidized loans.
The comprehensive 10-day curriculum demystifies entrepreneurship, teaching trainees to navigate business planning, financial literacy, market analysis, and subsidy-linked funding. Eligible ventures in services get up to Rs 20 lakh loans, while manufacturing projects qualify for Rs 50 lakh—both with 35% government subsidy.
Opening the batch, Director Sunil Sharma stressed the pillars of success: dedication, timeliness, creativity, and belief in oneself. In an exclusive interview, he praised the youth’s proactive shift to self-employment, predicting they’ll soon employ others. PMEGP’s national footprint has already transformed rural economies, and Rajouri stands to benefit immensely.
Voices from the ground reflect enthusiasm. Aarti Sharma, leveraging her KVIC loan, anticipates full business acumen post-training. Fellow participant Mukhtar Ahmad appreciates the scheme’s support for his startup dreams. Rakesh Raina, with prior experience, secured Rs 10 lakh for his printing press expansion and values the practical insights.
This program transcends individual empowerment, bolstering Rajouri’s border economy. By nurturing job creators, PMEGP aligns with national self-reliance objectives, fostering inclusive growth and diminishing dependency on traditional employment in challenging terrains.
