Sri Lanka’s Under-19 squad asserted dominance in Group A, demolishing Ireland by 106 runs in a key Under-19 World Cup 2026 clash on Monday at Windhoek’s Namibia Cricket Ground. The win, their second in a row, installs them at the top of the standings.

Building on a massive 203-run win against Japan, Sri Lanka outperformed Ireland, who had bowed to Australia by 8 wickets earlier. The Irish now hold third spot.

Toss victory led Sri Lanka to bat. Early trouble at 17/2 was arrested by skipper Vimoth Dinusara’s heroic effort.

A 42-run third-wicket stand with Dulanith Sigera (22) was followed by a 79-run infusion with Kavija Gamage, who scored 49 (6×4) off 111 balls, stabilizing at 139.

The highlight: Dinusara (95 off 102, 6×4, 1×6) and Chamika Henatigala (51*) amassed 100 runs for the fifth wicket, powering Sri Lanka to a challenging 267/5.

Ireland’s attack was led by Oliver Riley (2 wickets), with minimal support.

In pursuit, Ireland managed only 161 in 40.1 overs. Callum Armstrong’s 39 (3×4) headed the chart, with Ruben Wilson (32) and captain Oliver Riley (31* off 35, 2×6, 1×4) contributing.

Dulanith Sigera’s 4/19 and Rasith Nimesar’s three wickets dismantled Ireland. Sri Lanka’s all-round excellence promises more fireworks in the tournament.
