Following the introduction of GST 2.0, several popular sedan models in India have experienced significant price reductions, offering potential buyers substantial savings. The changes are particularly noticeable for the Honda Amaze and Hyundai Verna, among others.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, a top-selling subcompact sedan, is now more affordable. The ZXi Plus AMT variant has seen the most significant price cut of ₹88,000, and the other top variants have also become cheaper by at least ₹80,000. This makes the Dzire a more attractive option for those considering a hatchback, with the added benefits of a larger boot and the traditional sedan look, all at a reduced cost.
The Honda Amaze has also benefited, with a ₹1.20 lakh price reduction for its top ZX CVT petrol variant. Lower manual variants also experienced reductions of ₹80,000-₹90,000. The Amaze, known for its ease of city driving and dependable performance, is now an even more compelling value proposition. This may result in increased sales for Honda.
The Tata Tigor, although often not in the spotlight, has seen price changes worth noting. The XZ Plus CNG variant saw a price cut of ₹81,000, and the petrol and automatic variants are also now more affordable.
The Hyundai Aura, recognized for its features in the city sedan category, also benefits from GST 2.0. Its SX Plus AMT variant has been reduced by ₹76,000, while other CNG and manual variants have also become cheaper by ₹70,000 or more. Positioned between the Grand i10 Nios and the Verna, the Aura’s strength lies in its balance of compact size and sedan practicality, a feature further emphasized by these new prices.
The Hyundai Verna, which competes in the premium compact sedan segment, is also listed. The top SX (O) Turbo DCT variant is now ₹60,000 cheaper, and other high-end variants have also been reduced by more than ₹50,000. With these new prices, buyers may rethink where to get the best value when the Verna competes with vehicles like the Honda City and Skoda Slavia.
