    The number of mouth cancer cases has increased in Indore.

    Highlights

    Most cancer patients are in the age group of 41 to 60 years. Breast cancer patients go for treatment in the second stage. Oral cancer patients go for treatment in the fourth stage.

    Vinay Yadav, Indore. The city which is fond of food has now been affected by bad habits. At present, the cases of cancer are increasing continuously. Most cases of oral cancer are being reported in men, which is a matter of concern. The main reason for this is smoking and consumption of tobacco.

    A study on cancer was carried out in a private hospital in the city, which revealed that 45% of cancer cases found in men were oral cancer.

    A major reason for the increase in this number is that nowadays even minor children are getting caught in its clutches. An analysis of cancer cases from January 2023 to January 2024 prepared a record of the number of cancer cases in the city, its type and the age groups most affected by cancer.

    Pathologist Shilpi Dosi said that biopsy samples and patients who came to the hospital for surgical procedures were analysed.

    The youth need to be aware that they should stay away from bad habits. If awareness is not created then the number of patients may double by the year 2040. At present, patients have to wait for cancer surgery in many hospitals. Because the number of patients getting surgery is also increasing.
