  • DNA Exclusive: Analysing new terror pattern in J&K as Jammu becomes prime target |

Amid escalating militant attacks in Jammu, concerns are rising over a potential shift of terrorist activities from Kashmir to the region. Following the recent martyrdom of four soldiers in a clash in Doda, security forces have launched extensive search operations. It is suspected that 2 to 3 militants are hiding in the dense forests of Doda. The military has deployed helicopters to conduct thorough searches.

Since the revocation of Article 370 in 2019, Jammu has increasingly become a focal point of militant activities, raising questions about whether militants have been eliminated or have simply regrouped. The police are meticulously combing through the jungles, where old caves could potentially serve as hideouts for militants.

In today’s DNA, Zee News’ Anant Tyagi analyzed the rising terrorism in Jammu in comparison to Kashmir marking a shift in terrorists’ strategy.

DNA: ‘Political’ encounter on Doda attack! Till when will there be politics on terror?#DNA #DodaTerrorAttack #IndianArmy #JammuKashmir @Anant_Tyagii pic.twitter.com/5wkT3OQ0SX — Zee News (@ZeeNews) July 16, 2024

There is substantial evidence suggesting Jammu has become a hub for militant operations post-Article 370. Statistics reveal a 71% increase in militant arrests and a 43% rise in incidents of militants fleeing after attacks in the last four years compared to the previous four years.

The targeting of Jammu by militants is not merely for survival but also for strategic reasons. Its high Hindu population, fewer security forces compared to Kashmir, and secure jungles make it an attractive alternative to Kashmir for militant activities.

In Jammu division alone, there are reports of seven active militant groups, with significant presence of foreign terrorists affiliated with outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad. Among these groups, Kashmir Tigers (KT), The Resistance Front (TRF), People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), and Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF) are prominent.

The responsibility for attacks in Doda and Kathua is largely attributed to the Kashmir Tigers. The border-crossing Overground Workers Network in Jammu poses a significant challenge, aiding militants in crossing borders, providing shelter, and guiding them to jungles post-attacks.

  • DNA Exclusive: Analysing the ‘Kedarnath Temple’ protest and its Delhi connection |

In India, the controversy surrounding temples and mosques can be often seen. However, in today’s DNA, we will start with a controversy surrounding a temple. This temple is being built in Delhi, but the protest is happening in Uttarakhand. The priests of Kedarnath Dham are warning that if this temple is built in Delhi, they will raise a strong protest against the government.

A Shiva temple is being constructed in Burari, Delhi. This temple is being built in the name of Shri Kedarnath Dham. The foundation stone for this temple was laid on July 10th. Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami also participated in the foundation ceremony. It is claimed that this temple will be built on three acres of land and is being constructed by the Shri Kedarnath Dham Trust, Burari. The trust states that since the Kedarnath Dham remains closed for six months, this temple is being constructed. The plan is to build this temple exactly like the Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand.

The pilgrimage priests of Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand allege that constructing a Kedarnath temple in Delhi is against religious traditions. The priests claim that this is an attempt to tamper with Hindu traditions. Sages and saints say that by bringing a stone from Kedarnath Dham and establishing it in Delhi, CM Dhami has tampered with the tradition of Kedarnath Dham. They assert that there is and will always be only one Kedarnath Dham, and nothing can replace it.

CM Pushkar Dhami and the trust building of the Kedarnath Dham temple in Delhi are now on the defensive. However, the sages and saints of Uttarakhand have issued an ultimatum that if a replica of Kedarnath Dham is built in Delhi, there will be a protest.

  • ‘I’ll make her resign…’: Father defends IAS Puja Khedkar, counters all allegations in latest interview |

After the allegations mounted against IAS officer Puja Khedkar, her father on Sunday defended his daughter and said she had not done anything illegal. Puja recently came under heat for allegedly using fake disability and OBC category certificates, using a red beacon light on a private Audi, and misuse of authority, among other accusations. Following which, she was transferred from Pune to Washim district in Maharashtra.

Her father and former Maharashtra government employee, Dilip Khedkar, was speaking at an interview with a local Marathi channel when he quashed all the allegations against his daughter, Puja Khedkar.

    Non-Creamy Layer Misuse

Dilip said that she indeed belongs to the non-creamy layer. He explained that even a person with limited means who owns 4-5 acres of land might appear to be worth several crores based on valuation, but the classification as creamy layer depends on income rather than property valuation.

Earlier, Dilip had contested Lok Sabha elections and declared assets worth Rs 40 crore. However, eyebrows were raised when his daughter Puja secured an IAS position under the Other Backward Class (OBC) category, which is meant for candidates with an annual income of less than 8 lakh.

    ‘I’ll make her resign’

One of the accusations against Puja is that she removed the nameplate of a senior official at the Pune collector’s office after he permitted her to use his antechamber as her office.

“She used the cabin with the proper permission from her senior. Is it written anywhere that a young intern woman with IAS should not be given a separate cabin? If it is written, then I will make her resign from her job,” Dilip asserted.

    misuse of power

Regarding the 34-year-old officer’s alleged misuse of power, including the use of a private luxury car with a VIP number plate and red-blue beacon during her tenure at the Pune collector’s office, Dilip stated that she had obtained permission for all her actions.

“She used the luxury car for official work because no government vehicle was available. She did that with proper permission from her seniors in the administration,” Dilip asserted.

The police seized the Audi luxury car earlier today.

    Fake Disability Certificate

Regarding the allegations of misuse of disability certificates, Dilip stated that the government sets criteria to determine a person’s disability, and his daughter meets those criteria.

“Many disabilities are not visible but are diagnosed through medical tests. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she missed some medical check-ups,” he explained.

Earlier, an official had mentioned that in April 2022, Puja was instructed to appear at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, for verification of her disability certificate. However, she did not attend, citing a COVID infection.

The Centre has appointed a single-member committee to review the documents submitted by Puja for her civil services examination and subsequent selection to the IAS.

    Mother Manorama’s Viral Video

Dilip also stood by Puja’s mother, Manorama, who was captured in an old video reportedly issuing threats with a gun during a land dispute. The police have filed a case against Dilip and Manorama regarding this incident.

Puja’s father said, “The media and others are showing only one video clip. The day before that incident, a local aggressively approached her with a stick. In such a situation, should she have stayed silent?”

He further added that his wife possesses a license to carry the gun for self-defense.

The IAS officer from the 2023 batch is currently in her probationary period and assigned to her home state of Maharashtra.

  • DNA: Biden’s Verbal Slip-Ups Spark Global Attention |

In a series of recent events, US President Joe Biden has become the subject of widespread discussion and even amusement due to his repeated verbal gaffes.

From confusing NATO leaders to mistakenly identifying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as Russian President Vladimir Putin, Biden’s mix-ups have raised questions about his cognitive sharpness and have been the talk of the global media. In today’s DNA, Anant Tyagi analyses Biden’s recent verbal slip-ups.

Similar to the movie ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Golmaal’, where the hero Aamir Khan and Johnny Lever has short-term memory loss, President of the United States, Joe Biden, slips his tongue too.

Earlier, President Biden became Ghajini in the NATO meeting, calling Trump the Vice President and Putin the President of Ukraine. But now another video is going viral, in which Biden said something directly to the President of Ukraine, Zelensky, that left Zelensky surprised by calling him Putin.

  • Landmark Decision: J&K HC Acts To Protect Neglected Kashmiri Hindu Temples, Shrines |

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh has issued a landmark decision, directing the administration to protect Hindu temples, shrines, and holy springs left neglected after the mass migration of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990. This ruling follows a significant court case initiated by Kashmiri Pandits concerned about the state of these religious sites. The court emphasized the government’s duty to safeguard these historical places and invoked the J&K Migrant Immovable Property Act, granting authority to the district magistrate for their preservation.

The petitioners also raised alarm over encroachments at the sole Hindu cremation ground in Ganderbal district. The court recognized the urgency of this issue, ordering the removal of encroachments within eight weeks. Additionally, the court addressed a disputed lease on one shrine property, ruling it expired and prohibiting any extension. This judgment paves the way for addressing future grievances, allowing any concerned party, including petitioners and previous stakeholders, to report encroachments to the Ganderbal district magistrate for prompt action.

The court’s directive states, “For the reasons mentioned above, and without delving into the competing claims of the petitioners and respondents regarding shrine management and properties, it is sufficient to say that the District Magistrates, who have vested authority over migrant properties since the enactment of the 1997 Act, must immediately assume responsibility for safeguarding, preserving, and managing temples, shrines, and their associated properties. The DC shall take necessary steps to prevent any encroachments on temple properties.”

This ruling has been welcomed by Kashmiri Pandit petitioners, including Sanjay Tikoo, head of KPSS (Kashmir Pandit Sangharsh Samiti), representing those who remained in the valley after the 1990s exodus. Presently, approximately 900 Kashmiri Pandit families reside in Kashmir, with around 3,000 temples, shrines, and holy springs. Of these, only 105 are well-maintained, highlighting the urgent need for restoration efforts.

Sanjay Tikoo emphasized, “We have identified 1,800 temples, along with 600 cremation grounds and 600 holy springs. Only 100 temples have remained active since the 1990s; the rest are in ruins. We advocate for all temples to be handed over to respective DCs under the ‘Kashmiri Pandit Property Act,’ ensuring local committees manage them. Revenue from these properties should go to DCs to prevent misappropriation, with necessary funds released for renovations.”

Since 2007, KPSS and other organizations have sought protection for these neglected religious sites. Sanjay Tikoo expressed satisfaction with the court’s intervention but voiced concerns over previous orders not being implemented. KPSS seeks a CBI inquiry into temple properties from 1989 onwards to uphold their original status.

“We have fought since 2007, and now with the court’s support, we feel hopeful,” Tikoo said. “However, previous orders were ignored, raising doubts about the current order’s implementation. The court has given one month for DCs of Ganderbal, Srinagar, and Anantnag to assume control of these temples. We await this period to assess its execution.”

Kashmiri Pandit organizations remain optimistic that more orders will follow, ensuring all temples, shrines, cremation grounds, and holy springs are entrusted to respective DCs, restoring them to their pre-1990 state.

The video shown in today’s episode is from a government school in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. It shows a teacher, Ram Pratap Rawat, swaying under the influence of alcohol. He arrived at school so intoxicated that he could barely speak. He is stumbling while standing, his speech is slurred, and his mind is clearly muddled. He is so drunk that he proclaims himself to be supremely knowledgeable.

These teachers in Madhya Pradesh not only stay at the school but drink alcohol there as well. They remain intoxicated day and night, and they collect their salary on the first of every month. The villagers have often seen them drinking, but these teachers have never been seen teaching the children. Judging by the condition of these drunken teachers, it might be better if they don’t teach at all. While the number of government teachers in Madhya Pradesh may be low, the number of drunken teachers is quite high.

Moreover, the list doesn’t just include the names of drunken teachers. It also includes eight teachers who have married twice and nine teachers who haven’t come to school for years.
