  • ‘Fake Encounter Killings…’: Akhilesh Yadav Blasts Yogi Government Over ‘PDA’ Injustice |

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday slammed the Uttar Pradesh government, saying statistics of encounters during the BJP rule are also statistics of the “injustice of illegal killings” and “injustice done against the PDA”.

The former chief minister also shared some data of “fake encounter killings”, claiming that 60 per cent of those killed in gunfights with the police belonged to the PDA — a combine of ‘Pichde, Dalit and Alpsankhyak’ communities (backwards, Dalits and minorities). However, the data had no source mentioned.

Yadav coined the PDA ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

“The statistics of encounters during the BJP rule are also statistics of the injustice of illegal killings and also of the injustice done against the PDA,” Yadav posted on X on Tuesday evening in Hindi.

While the SP chief has been critical of the state’s “trigger happy” police in the past also, his latest attack stems from the recent killing of Mangesh Yadav, a suspect in the Rs 1.5 crore robbery at a jewelery store in Sultanpur, who died allegedly. after a gunfight with the police.

In another post Tuesday night, Yadav shared a bar chart on statistics of accused killed in “fake encounters”.

The data showed that 125 (60 per cent) of those killed belonged to the PDA, 40 (19 per cent) to ‘others’ while data was unavailable for another 42 (21 per cent). The chart, however, mentioned no source of information.

The Kannauj Lok Sabha MP had previously also termed Mangesh Yadav’s encounter as “fake” and alleged that it was done based on the basis of the accused’s caste.

However, on Monday, UP Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar denied the allegations, saying no partiality is practiced by the state police.

“Police do not do such things… When bullets are fired on police, those who have faced such situations, who are our former officers, all of them know about it… I deny all such things and the police take action completely. impartially,” he told reporters in Lucknow.

  • ‘Dharma Is More Than Just Puja, It Denotes Truth…’: RSS Chief |

Pune: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Monday said some elements who don’t want India to grow are creating hindrance in the path of its development, but there was no need to be scared as a similar situation prevailed during the times. of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, but it was tackled using the power of “dharma” or religion and righteousness.

Speaking at the release of a book titled ‘Tanjavarche Marathe’, written by author Dr Milind Paradkar, he noted dharma does not mean just puja (rituals), but it is a broader concept that encompasses truth, compassion, ‘tapascharya’ (dedication). .

He maintained the word ‘Hindu” is an adjective that personifies acceptance of diversities and emphasized India came into existence for a purpose and to push the idea of ’Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The world is one family).

Bhagwat pointed out that in the past “external” invasions of India were largely visible so people were alert, but now they are manifesting in different forms.

“When Tataka attacked (a demoness in Ramayana), a lot of chaos ensued and she was slain just by an arrow (by Ram and Laxman), but in case of Putna (demoness who came to kill infant Krishna), she came disguised as an aunt to breastfeed (infant Krishna), but as it was Krishna (who killed her).

“Today’s situation is the same. Attacks are taking place and they are devastating in every manner, be it economic, spiritual or political,” the RSS leader noted.

Some elements are creating obstacles in the path of India’s development and are fearful of its rise on the global stage, but they will not succeed, he asserted.

“All those who fear that if India grows big, their businesses will be shut, such elements are working to create hindrance in the path of country’s development and by galvanizing all the power they have. They are orchestrating methodical attacks, be it physical or invisible. (sukshm), but there is no need to get scared as a similar situation prevailed during Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s times when there was no hope for India’s rise,” he said.

But there is one factor called ‘jivani shakti’ (power that infuses life) which defines India, Bhagwat emphasised.

“Jivani shakti is the basis of our nation and that is founded on dharma which will be there forever,” he said.

The RSS chief said dharma was there at the beginning of the ‘srishti’ (nature or universe) and it (dharma) will be needed till the end.

Bhagwat stressed India is a very fortunate and blessed country.

“Due to blessings and inspirations of great personalities and saints, the country became immortal. Because of this, our country, despite straying a little bit here and there, would ultimately come on tracks. This is the divine boon we have received and it was received for a specific purpose as the God has entrusted us with responsibilities of the world,” he remarked.

“Other countries came into existence for struggle… for survival, but India’s creation was to demonstrate the idea of ’Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, Bhagwat opined.

He said dharma is at the core of unity.

“This thread of unity is derived from dharma. When I say dharma that does not mean puja (rituals), dharma does not mean eat this, do not eat that, do not touch (something). Dharma means truth, compassion, tapascharya ( dedication). Why to feel ashamed of these things?” Bhagwat asked.

He referred to a book written by legendary freedom fighter and nationalist Subhash Chandra Bose to point out how the British rulers looked at India.

“I recently came across a book, ‘Indian Resistance’, written by Subhash Chandra Bose. Bose writes in the first chapter that the British thought that because of them, India was a country, else it was just a collection of multiple states, but According to him (Bose), it was wrong,” the RSS leader said.

Bose wrote in the book that Bharatvarsh has remained united just because of Hindu dharma, he contended.

“Bose called himself a Leftist in the book. The Leftist group in the Congress. Who were others who were named Leftists – Lokmanya Tilak, Babu Arvind Ghosh. The Leftist means those who want pivotal changes in society and those who want complete swarajya (freedom ).In our region, we call them ‘jahal’ (aggressive),” Bhagwat said, quoting from the book.

He added that Hindu word was not used at that time, but Bose used the term without any hesitation.

“Hindu is not a name. It is an adjective that describes and accepts all diversities. That is why when Marathas (during Shivaji-era) went to (present-day) Tamil Nadu (Thanjavur) they were not treated as outsiders. They are accepted because of their work and behaviour,” the RSS leader noted.

Bhagwat said after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s great escape from Mughal captivity in Agra, it became evident that ‘swaraj’ (self-rule) was here to stay.

“Everyone got the solution and they started their fight (against Mughals). Had there been no British rule (after Mughals), the country would have been more united despite all its diversities,” he noted.

  • J&K Polls: BJP’s Bold Move Of Fielding Candidate From Lal Chowk Marks A New Era In Kashmir |

The BJP’s decision to field a candidate from Lal Chowk itself is a testament to the significant changes occurring in Kashmir, says Engineer Ejaz Hussain. A festive atmosphere was observed at the BJP headquarters in Srinagar following the announcement of BJP candidates from historically significant constituencies like Lal Chowk and Eidgah. In the first two phases of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the BJP has fielded 13 candidates—eight from South Kashmir and five from Central Kashmir.

Among these, the key constituencies are Lal Chowk and Eidgah. Lal Chowk holds historical significance as it has been the center of major decisions in Kashmir. Once considered the heart of Kashmir, Lal Chowk witnessed election boycotts and stone-pelting over the last three decades. However, following the abrogation of Article 370, Lal Chowk was revitalized and transformed into a tourist hub, with the tricolor being hoisted on its historic clock tower.

Years ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the tricolor at this very place when terrorism was at its peak in Kashmir. Today, the BJP has fielded a candidate with the hope that, along with the tricolor, the BJP flag will also fly high from Lal Chowk.

BJP candidate Engineer Aijaz Hussain, who was previously elected DDC from Lal Chowk, stated, “I have worked a lot for the people of this constituency. We promise only what we can deliver. An MLA cannot bring back Article 370, which the NC and PDP is falsely promising to the people. If a Muslim is elected in BJP, he will speak for the community.” Engineer Hussain expressed his confidence that “this time, the lotus will bloom from Lal Chowk.”

Eidgah is another significant constituency where the BJP has fielded a candidate. This area, located in the historic downtown of Srinagar, was once synonymous with strikes, stone-pelting, and protests before the removal of Article 370. In the past, downtown Srinagar was a center of separatism and election boycotts, with minimal voter turnout. However, the situation has changed. The Lok Sabha elections saw a significant voter turnout in the area, and the assembly elections are expected to witness record-breaking participation. The BJP has fielded Arif Raja from Eidgah, one of the most crucial constituencies in downtown Srinagar.

Arif Raja stated, “I have worked tirelessly for the youth of the area, and that is why the picture in Eidgah is different today. My slogan is ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Vikas,’ and I am confident that the lotus will bloom in Eidgah for the first time.” When asked about his competition, he added, “I don’t see any real competition in the area. The youth are with me, they are wise, and they will choose the better candidate.”

The BJP may field additional candidates in the third phase for North Kashmir. However, the party will not contest elections in all constituencies in Kashmir. Instead, they are hopeful that this time the lotus will bloom in Kashmir. The BJP is also in the process of supporting many independent candidates, most of whom are contesting independently after not receiving a mandate from the NC or PDP and have a strong influence in their respective areas. The BJP, which is primarily focusing on Jammu province, is optimistic that with the support of some independent candidates in the valley, it will be able to form a government for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir.

  • Defense Ministry Set To Approve Major Warship And Battle Tank Projects Worth Over Rs 1 Lakh Crore |

Amid the ongoing standoff with China, the Defense Ministry is set to undertake major projects, including the construction of seven advanced frigates for the Indian Navy and the Indian Army’s proposal to replace its T-72 tanks with modern Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCVs).

The meeting, chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, is scheduled for Tuesday at South Block and will be attended by top officials, including the Chief of Defense Staff, the three service chiefs, the Defense Secretary, and other relevant officials.

The Indian Navy’s plan involves acquiring seven new warships under Project 17 Bravo, which will be the most advanced stealth frigates ever built in India, following the Nilgiri-class frigates currently under construction, according to defense officials.

Defense sources indicated that the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) is expected to approve issuing a tender worth approximately Rs 70,000 crore to Indian shipyards under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, including private sector shipyards. The tender will likely involve Category A shipyards, such as Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, Goa Shipyard Limited, and Larsen & Toubro, among others. To expedite the project and prevent delays, the tender is expected to be split between two shipyards, though specific details will be available only after the project’s approval.

Currently, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and Garden Reach Shipbuilders are constructing frigates under Project 17A (Nilgiri-class), with four frigates being built by MDL and three by GRSE.

The Indian Army’s proposal to replace its Russian-origin T-72 tanks with 1,700 FRCVs will also be discussed at the meeting. The Army plans to replace the T-72s with indigenous FRCVs, which will be built under the Make-1 procedure of the Defense Acquisition Procedure.

Indian vendors will be required to manufacture the tanks with over 60 per cent indigenous content, and major companies like Bharat Forge and Larsen & Toubro are expected to participate in the tender.

The Indian Army aims to complete the FRCV project in phases, with approximately 600 tanks being built in each phase. Additionally, the Army is expected to propose acquiring around 100 BMP-2 infantry combat vehicles during the high-level meeting. The overall FRCV project is likely to cost over Rs 50,000 crore, aimed at modernizing the force’s Armored Regiments.
