  • Euro 2024: Spain stun France to reach final with 16-year-old Lamine Yamal’s heroics | Football News

Luis de la Fuente’s Spain are unstoppable, even for the speedy Kylian Mbappe. Spain continued their impressive Euro 2024 run by securing a spot in the Final with a 2-1 win over Didier Deschamps’s France. This victory makes Spain the first team to go unbeaten in six games, reinforcing their status as the best team in the tournament.

France took an early lead at the Allianz Arena in Munich with a headed goal by Kolo Muani in the 8th minute. However, Spain equalized when Lamine Yamal scored a stunning long-range goal in the 21st minute. Just four minutes later, Dani Olmo scored again, putting Spain ahead.

The more experienced French team was outplayed by the youthful and energetic Spanish side. French captain Kylian Mbappe, who is set to join Real Madrid, had a quiet game and missed a crucial chance to equalise.

The standout player was 16-year-old Lamine Yamal, who announced himself as a future star with his brilliant goal. His curler in the 21st minute made him the youngest-ever goalscorer in European Championship history. Yamal was a constant threat to the French defense, cutting into the box and delivering precise crosses.

Despite having a strong midfield with N’Golo Kante, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Adrien Rabiot, France focused their attacks on the flanks. The Spanish defense, led by Nacho and the experienced Jesus Navas, effectively neutralized these threats.

Spain now awaits the winner of the semi-final clash between England and the Netherlands. Luis de la Fuente will look to strengthen his already formidable team as they aim to win the championship after several challenging years for the national side.

  • Two-Wheeler Industry To Sustain Steady Volume Growth Rate Of Up To 9 Pc In FY25: Report | Markets News

New Delhi: The Two-wheeler industry is expected to sustain a steady volume growth rate of around 7 to 9 per cent in FY25, considering both domestic and export markets, a new report said on Monday.

The growth in FY25 is expected to be driven by higher electric vehicle (EV) sales supported by the government’s Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) 2024, according to the knowledge-based analytical group CareEdge Ratings.

“Post-covid, sales volume of two-wheelers had consistently declined during FY20, FY21 & FY22 before starting to recover from FY23, with sales momentum continuing in FY24 as well,” said Hardik Shah, Director at CareEdge Ratings.

In FY23, the two-wheeler industry recorded sales of 19.51 million units, an 8 per cent growth compared to the previous fiscal year’s 18.01 million units. In FY24, the industry continued its upward trajectory, achieving 9.8 per cent growth with a total sales volume of 21.43 million units.

However, this was short of the peak sales volume recorded in FY19 when annual sales volume had reached 24.46 million units, according to the report. During FY24, the domestic two-wheeler industry witnessed a total sales volume of 17.97 million units, reflecting a growth rate of 13 per cent, while the export volume experienced a decline of 5 per cent though recovered from FY23.

The overall volume growth in FY23 and FY24 was supported by the increasing demand for EVs. In FY23, EV sales reached about 0.73 million units, accounting for 4.54 per cent of total two-wheeler sales, reflecting a remarkable year-on-year growth of 188 per cent. Continuing the positive trend, EV sales grew by around 30 per cent in FY24 surpassing volume of 0.94 million units.

Segment-wise, motorcycles have dominated the market, contributing to the majority of the two-wheeler sales -while sales volumes of motorcycles grew by 8 per cent in FY24 that of scooters grew by 13 per cent during the year, the report mentioned.

This segment-wise growth trend is expected to continue in FY25.

  • Sri Lanka Cricket Board expressed trust in this veteran, he became the head coach of the team, he once gave a tough time to India

Sri Lanka cricket: The continuous poor performance of the Sri Lankan cricket team has become a headache for the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC). In the T20 World Cup 2024 played jointly hosted by America and West Indies, the Sri Lankan team was eliminated in the first round itself. After this, the head coach of the team, Chris Silverwood, resigned from his post citing personal reasons. Now SLC has appointed former Sri Lankan legendary batsman as the head coach of the team, who once troubled the Indian team. Who is that legendary player, let’s know about him?

Let us tell you that the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has named former captain Sanath Jayasuriya as the interim head coach of the team. Jayasuriya was part of the Sri Lankan team that won the World Cup in 1996 and was also the team’s consultant during the recently concluded T20 World Cup. In such a situation, the team will be more comfortable in coordinating with him than with a new coach. Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva said, “Until we find a permanent solution, Sanath will continue to guide the national team with his international cricket experience.”

Indian team will go on Sri Lanka tour

Jayasuriya’s tenure will last until the completion of Sri Lanka’s tour of England in September 2024. 55-year-old Jayasuriya will take up his new role ahead of the limited-overs home series against India later this month. The Indian team will tour Sri Lanka for three T20 Internationals and three ODIs starting July 27.

Once upon a time, India was in trouble

Sanath Jayasuriya is known as the most explosive batsman of his era. He has troubled India a lot in most of the matches. His best score in ODI and Test is against India. In the Test match played against India in August 1997, Jayasuriya scored 340 runs. In the match played in Sharjah on 29 October 2000, Jayasuriya played an innings of 189 runs against India. His bat has been very successful against Team India.

    Jayasuriya’s cricket career

Sanath Jayasuriya played 110 Test matches from 1991 to 2007, in which he scored 6973 runs at an average of 40.07 with the help of 14 centuries and 31 half-centuries. This left-handed player has scored 13,430 runs in 445 ODIs at an average of 32.36 with the help of 28 centuries and 68 half-centuries. He played an important role in Sri Lanka’s victory in the 1996 ODI World Cup.

  • NexGen Energia Plans To Invest Rs 15,000 Cr Over 10 Years To Open 5,000 Green Diesel, CBG Pumps | Company News

Noida: Green energy solutions company NexGen Energia plans a Rs 15,000 crore investment to open 5,000 green diesel and compressed biogas (CBG) pumps in the country over the next 10 years.

The Noida-based company recently inaugurated its first CBG pump in Mau district in Uttar Pradesh, marking its entry to execute engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services in the clean energy sector.

“The company’s commitment to clean energy goes far beyond this single pump. Plans are afoot to open a total of 5,000 green diesel and CBG pumps across the country in multiple phases over the next 10 years, with each pump costing around Rs 3 crore. In this manner, we are set to invest Rs 15,000 crore in the green energy sector,” NexGen Energia Chairman Piyush Dwivedi told PTI.

“Furthermore, this initiative will create approximately 5,000 new entrepreneurs and provide direct and indirect employment to over 10 lakh people. Our goal is to make India self-reliant in the green energy sector, thereby reducing fuel imports by about 30 per cent,” Dwivedi said.

He said the company’s vision goes beyond merely providing clean fuel as it is actively working to build a robust infrastructure to facilitate a sustainable future for transportation in India. “This significant expansion is expected to attract a substantial investment into the Indian economy, which will spur significant economic growth,” the chairman added.

Earlier in April, Nexgen Energia’s e-mobility arm NGE launched its affordable fleet of two-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs), with prices starting at Rs 36,999. The company had said it aims to cross sales of more than Rs 500 crore this financial year and set up more than 500 dealers and distributors while generating around 50,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the EV sector.

There are plans to introduce electric trucks and buses, which will further strengthen the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions, it added.

  • Pat Cummins Suggests Specific Window For Test Cricket And IPL | Cricket News

Cummins calls for schedule streamlining to avoid clash between IPL and Test matches London, Jul 7 (PTI) Australia skipper Pat Cummins feels that a more dedicated window for Tests is needed so that players can chalk their individual schedule and preparation, particularly by those cricketers who wish to play in franchise-based leagues such as the IPL. The Indian Premier League now has a specific window every year across April and May, where not too many Test matches take place.

“Franchise cricket for some countries is more lucrative, more appealing than international cricket,” Cummins was quoted by Sydney Morning Herald.

“If I went and played franchise cricket, I could probably be away for a half or a third of the amount we are for Australia. (IND vs ZIM 2nd T20I: Records Tumble As Abhishek Sharma Hits Maiden Century For Team India)

“In Australia, Test cricket is from November to January, and basically, no other cricket is going to get in the way of us playing Test cricket then. If we can have specific windows for IPL, but then also Test windows, that makes the decision-making for the players a lot easier,” Cummins said while speaking at the MCC World Cricket Connects 2024 at Lord’s.

In 2025, Australia could play the World Test Championship final in June, right after the conclusion of the IPL, followed by the tour to the West Indies, which includes two Tests, three ODIs and as many T20Is.

Additionally, Cricket Australia Chairman, Mike Bird called for the sustainability of playing Test cricket.

“Do you have a smaller amount of Test-playing nations that are sustainable, as opposed to trying to prop up a system with additional cost that is adding to the economic challenges of maintaining Test cricket?” he wondered.

Bird also called for ideas that would be sufficiently suited to playing the traditional format.

“We (Cricket Australia) don’t feel (we) should dictate to any country, but we’re open to ideas and proposals on how to support Test playing full stop.”

“There’s a summer to fill, and white-ball cricket can play a role, but (Test cricket) still remains the dominant game in Australia. It is very clear Australia will support and invest and grow Test cricket opportunities as long as we possibly can,” Bird added.
