  • BMW 5 Series LWB to launch in India on July 24; Check What’s New | Auto News

BMW is gearing up launch the new 5 Series in India on July 24. Notably, the company is introducing a long-wheelbase (LWB) version for the first time. Read here to know all about this vehicle.

    Design

The latest-generation BMW 5 Series LWB measures 5,175mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,520mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,105mm. This makes it 145mm longer than the regular 5 Series sedan, with an additional 110mm in the wheelbase. While these dimensions are for the Chinese model, some adaptations like a right-hand drive setup and slightly increased ground clearance are expected for the Indian market.

    Exterior Features

The extended length of the 5 Series LWB is noticeable, similar to the 3 Series Grand Limousine available in India. Unlike the E-Class LWB, which features a separate quarter glass and unique door design, the 5 Series LWB’s rear door resembles the standard model without a rear quarter glass. The LWB variant retains the headlamp and tail-lamp design, and the illuminated grille of the standard car, along with minor tweaks to the front and rear bumpers in some variants. In China, the 5 Series LWB sports an illuminated ‘5’ on the C-pillar, a feature that adds a distinctive touch but is absent in the standard 5 Series.

In China, the 5 Series LWB boasts an array of luxurious features such as 4-zone climate control, quilted upholstery, and a dual-tone design. A standout feature is the 31.1-inch display that folds down from the headliner, offering 8K resolution and 5G compatibility. Paired with the Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, it promises an immersive on-the-go entertainment experience. It is anticipated that most of these features will be available in the India-spec model as well.

  • T20 World cup 2024: Won the title twice, full of legends, still yearning for victory, now this amazing team will be out!

T20 World cup 2024: Scotland defeated Oman by 7 wickets in the 20th match of the group stage in the T20 World Cup. After this defeat, the Oman team is out of the tournament. After this big win of Scotland over Oman, it has now become difficult for the T20 World Cup defending champion England to remain in the tournament. It is in danger of being eliminated from the group stage itself.

Let us tell you that in the Group B match of the tournament, Scotland faced Oman on 9 June. Scotland won this match by 7 wickets with 41 balls remaining. This margin of victory increased its run rate, which has now created problems for defending champion England. Scotland has reached the top of Group B with a run rate of 2.164 in 3 matches. At the same time, Australia is at second place with 2 wins in 2 matches i.e. 4 points. Its run rate is 1.875. Apart from these two teams, the run rate of the remaining three teams in Group B, Namibia, England and Oman, is in minus. In this, Namibia has 2 points in 2 matches. At the same time, England has 1 point in 2 matches. Whereas Oman has lost all its three matches played so far.

England will have to do this to stay in the tournament

In this T20 World Cup jointly hosted by America and West Indies, the 20 teams playing for the first time have been divided into 4 groups and 2 teams from each group will go to the Super-8. In this regard, it seems difficult for England to go to the Super-8 from Group B. Its first match with Scotland was washed out due to rain, where it had to share points. At the same time, it lost to Australia in the second match. Now it has to play the remaining 2 matches against Namibia and Oman.

England will have to depend on Australia

Even if England wins both these matches, it will still have only 5 points. The big thing is that England will not only have to win these two matches but also win by a big margin. So that its run rate can also be corrected. Not only this, apart from winning by a big margin, it is also important for England to get the support of Australia. It will have to pray that Australia defeats Scotland. If this happens, then England and Scotland will have equal points in Group B. And, during that time, if England’s run rate is better than Scotland, then only it will move forward, otherwise the game of the defending champion will end at the group stage of T20 World Cup 2024.

Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf’s three-wicket hauls helped Pakistan restrict India to 119 in the high-voltage match of the T20 World Cup at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday.

Pakistan came with a strong bowling attack giving Indian batters little room to go for their shorts. After winning the toss Babar Azam-led Pakistan asked India to bat first. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma opened for the Men in Blue and Shaheen Afridi started the attack for Pakistan.

Rohit stunned the Pakistani pacer in the first over as he slammed a six over the deep square leg. India had a great start to the match as they ended the first over with 8/0 on the scoreboard.

The game was stopped as rain played a spoilsport after the first six balls. After the game resumed, Kohli slammed a four towards the covers. However, the Indian talisman batter’s knock had to come to an end after Naseem Shah removed Kohli in the third ball of the second over for four runs. Rishabh Pant replaced Kohli on the crease.

After Kohli’s dismissal, India lost their momentum as in the third over Afridi removed Men in Blue skipper Rohit Sharma for 13 runs. Axar Patel replaced Rohit on the crease. Mohammad Amir came for Pakistan in the fourth over and gave only four runs. The pair of Pant and Axar found it hard to score runs against Amir.

In the second ball of the sixth over, Usman Khan dropped Pant’s catch on the covers. Amir gave 12 runs in the last over of the powerplay. India reached the 50-run mark after the end of the powerplay.

After playing a few risky shots, Pant played a stunning shot over bowlers head for four in the seventh over. Naseem Shah bagged his second wicket after he removed Axar Patel for 20 runs in the fourth ball of the eighth over. The Pakistani bowler was successful in breaking the 39-run partnership of Axar and Pant.

Suryakumar Yadav replaced Axar on crease. Soon after coming on the pitch, Suryakumar pressed the ball forward for a four. The Men in Green continued display a sluggish performance with their field as Usman Khan missed Pant’s catch over the mid-wicket. The India wicketkeeper-batter continued to test his luck.

Pant dominated Haris Rauf in the 10th over as he smashed two fours in consecutive balls. Rauf gave away 13 runs in the 10th over. India stood at 81/3 in the midway of the first innings. Haris Rauf bagged his first wicket of the match after he removed Suryakumar Yadav for seven runs in the second ball of the 12th over.

Shivam Dube replaced Suryakumar on the crease. Dube failed to make a mark in his first match against Pakistan as Naseem Shah removed the allrounder for just three runs in the second ball of the 14th over. Hardik Pandya replaced Dube.

Mohammad Amir removed dangerous Rishabh Pant from the crease in the first ball of the 15th over. Babar Azam took his catch from mid-off. Pant was replaced by Ravindra Jadeja on the crease.

In the second ball of the 15th over, Amir removed Jadeja after the Indian all-rounder placed the ball on the short cover and Imad Wasim made no mistake to take the catch. Amir was on a hattrick but Arshdeep Singh managed to negate it.

The 15th over was crucial as Pakistan made a comeback in the game after bagging two wickets. Amir gave only one run in the over as India struggled to cross the 100-run mark. Hardik Pandya failed to make a mark again as he was removed by Haris Rauf for seven runs in the fourth ball of the 18th over. Bumrah replaced Hardik but the star India pacer was removed by Haris in the sixth ball of the 18th over.

Arshdeep Singh was removed from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the last ball of the 19th over and India could score 119 runs. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf were the top bowlers for Pakistan. Mohammad Amir bagged two wickets in his four-over spell and Shaheen Afridi took one wicket. Brief score: India 119 (Rishabh Pant 42, Axar Patel 20, Rohit Sharma 13; Haris Rauf 3/21) vs Pakistan. Pakistan suffered a shocking defeat to the USA in their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas. This loss has put Pakistan’s campaign in jeopardy, significantly reducing their chances of reaching the Super 8s. Babar Azam was visibly upset with fast bowler Haris Rauf after he gave up 11 runs in the last three balls, forcing a Super Over in Dallas. Despite starting well, Rauf failed to defend 14 runs in the final over of the second innings. Babar Azam stormed off the field, expressing his frustration verbally, as Pakistan failed to defend 159 runs against the USA, who are playing their first T20 World Cup.

The Pakistan team struggled in the first 10 overs with the ball, putting pressure on themselves. However, the fast bowlers made a strong comeback in the second half, with wickets from Haris Rauf and Mohammed Amir keeping Pakistan in the game. Rauf, who had been bowling well, came to defend 15 runs in the final over but ended up giving away 14 runs, leading to the Super Over at the Grand Prairie Stadium.

Babar Azam’s frustration continued in the Super Over as Mohammed Amir gave up 18 runs against relatively unknown batters. Amir bowled multiple wide balls and overthrows, adding easy runs to the USA’s total. In the end, Pakistan failed to chase down the 19-run target in the Super Over, leading to one of the biggest upsets in T20 World Cup history.

    Pakistan’s Big Game Against India

Pakistan is in trouble after losing to the USA. Their next game against India will be almost like a knockout match. It will take place at Nassau County Stadium in New York on Sunday, June 9. Historically, Pakistan has struggled against India in T20 World Cups, losing six out of seven matches. However, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, remains optimistic, saying the outcome will depend on which team stays composed.
