Prem Chopra, the celebrated Bollywood actor, known for his villainous roles, celebrates his 90th birthday. The legendary dialogue, “Prem naam hai mera… Prem Chopra,” from the film *Bobby* (1973), remains a memorable part of his career. Chopra came to the film industry with dreams of playing heroic characters, but he found his niche as a villain. Born in Lahore, Pakistan, on September 23, 1935, his family moved to Shimla after the partition, where he finished his studies. Later, he went to Mumbai to pursue acting. Despite starting in supporting roles, he gained recognition for his villainous portrayals.

During his early days in Mumbai, Chopra sought opportunities in film studios. He worked at The Times of India before beginning his film career with *Chaudhary Karnail Singh* (1960). He earned Rs 2500 for this role. Simultaneously, he worked in Punjabi films. He played villainous roles in movies like *Woh Kaun Thi*, *Shaheed*, and *Teesri Manzil*. The success of the film *Bobby* in 1973, where his famous dialogue was featured, solidified his choice to accept negative roles. Prem Chopra has worked in approximately 300 films, including Hindi and Punjabi films, throughout his long career.
