Raypur, 20 December 2025 – Under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM Asha) part of the Price Support Scheme, Chhattisgarh has received permission to procure legumes and oilseeds at their minimum support prices. On the special initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Devi Sai, a video conference discussion between Agriculture Minister of the Central Government S. Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Agriculture Minister of the State Shri Ramvichar Netam led the Central Government to grant approval for procurement of legumes and oilseeds in the Kharif season for Rs 42.5 crore.

It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh had submitted a proposal to the central government for a total of 1,22,000 metric tonnes of legumes and oilseeds for the Kharif and Rabi seasons – 50,000 metric tonnes for Kharif and 72,000 metric tonnes for Rabi. At present, only Kharif crops enjoy procurement approval. The plan includes procurement of 21,330 metric tonnes of horse gram, 25,530 metric tonnes of black gram, 240 metric tonnes of moong, 4,210 metric tonnes of soybean and 4,210 metric tonnes of groundnut. The total expenditure for these crops will be Rs 42.5 crore. The central government also assured that additional approvals for soybean and groundnut would be granted if demanded. The Indian government has announced the 2025-26 MSPs as Rs 8,000 per quintal for horse gram, Rs 8,768 for moong, Rs 7,800 for black gram, Rs 7,800 for groundnut and Rs 5,328 per quintal for soybean.

The state has laid out comprehensive arrangements for procurement at MSP for legumes and oilseeds. Procurement will be carried out through cooperative societies by Markfed in the state. Two hundred and twenty-two procurement centres across 22 districts have already been notified. The registration of farmers continues on the Integrated Farmer Portal of the Agriculture Department. Farmers who have not yet registered can do so through the nearest cooperative society to avail the scheme.

Chief Minister Vishnu Devi Sai said that procuring legumes and oilseeds at MSP is a major decision by the state government in the farmers’ interest. It will ensure farmers receive fair prices for their produce and increase their income. He also noted that this initiative will promote crop diversification in the state and accelerate Chhattisgarh’s progress toward self‑reliance in pulses and edible oils. The state is continuously coordinating with the central government to serve farmers’ interests.
