Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma has reiterated the state’s commitment to clean governance by ordering the suspension of an Additional SP involved in an alleged bribery racket. The scandal broke when a video surfaced showing the officer pressuring a spa center manager for money. The Home Minister’s prompt action led to the issuance of a formal notice by the Home Department, stripping the officer of his current responsibilities in the GPM district and attaching him to the Raipur Police Headquarters. This move comes as part of a larger effort to address complaints of harassment and illegal recovery by police personnel.

Beyond the individual’s suspension, the government has expressed serious concern over the violation of police protocols. During recent raids conducted under the officer’s supervision, sensitive footage was leaked to social media, raising questions about the privacy and dignity of those involved. The state has taken a grim view of this breach of conduct, noting that senior oversight was significantly lacking. As the internal investigation proceeds, the government is also reviewing the legal standing of various spa centers in Bilaspur, with several establishments already being sealed under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The administration aims to ensure that law enforcement remains within the bounds of the law while performing its duties.
