East Singhbhum’s Sonari police station area witnessed a major fire incident at a scrap yard in Gola Basti on Monday night, leading to significant property destruction and widespread fear. The sudden outbreak of intense flames created an alarming situation for the local community. Six fire fighting vehicles rushed to the scene and engaged in a prolonged battle to extinguish the fire, finally succeeding after hours of hard work.

There is a prevailing local theory that the fire was initiated by a spark from celebratory fireworks, which rapidly ignited the scrap materials. The magnitude of the blaze raised alarms as flames neared neighboring residences, but the quick deployment of fire services managed to keep the situation contained. The material loss from this devastating fire is estimated at over five lakh rupees.

Local accounts highlight the crucial role of the fire department’s rapid response in averting a potential disaster, which could have spread to adjacent residential areas and resulted in serious consequences. Area MLA Saryu Rai and his associate Neeraj Singh visited the site to review the situation and offer support. The owner of the scrap yard confirmed being notified of the fire late at night, leading to an immediate alert for emergency services. The legislator’s involvement ensured a swift response, significantly reducing the potential for further damage.
