Ranchi. Senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Champai Soren has become the new Chief Minister of the state. He is the 12th Chief Minister of the state. After a long struggle, Governor CP Radhakrishnan finally administered the oath to him on Friday. Earlier on Thursday at 11 pm, the Governor had called Champai Soren and invited him to form the government. Champai Soren took oath as Chief Minister at 12.20 pm in a simple ceremony held at Raj Bhavan on Friday. Along with him, Congress leader Alamgir Alam and RJD’s lone MLA Satyanand Bhokta took oath as ministers.

It is noteworthy that Champai Soren was elected the leader of the legislature party late on Wednesday evening after Hemant Soren was arrested in the land scam. At the same time, he met the Governor and submitted the letters of support of 43 MLAs and staked claim to form the government. But after making them wait for more than 24 hours, the Governor invited them to form the government late at 11 pm on Thursday night. After the oath ceremony on Friday, all the MLAs went to Hyderabad by special plane. In view of the possibility of vandalism, MLAs have been sent to Hyderabad.

However, after taking the oath, Chief Minister Champai Soren reached Project Bhawan, the state government secretariat, and held the first cabinet meeting with the two ministers. In the meeting of about 20 minutes, it was decided that a special session of the Assembly would be called on February 5 and 6, in which the government would prove its majority. It was decided to cancel the budget session in the cabinet meeting. It is noteworthy that earlier the budget session was to be held from February 9 to 20. But now it has been cancelled. The budget session will be held later. The third decision in the cabinet meeting was to re-appoint Rajiv Ranjan as Advocate General.

After the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Champai Soren left for Dumka. Before that he said – Today I have got the responsibility in Jharkhand, we have to complete the work started by Hemant Soren for the all-round development of this place. We will work as per the hopes and aspirations of the people. Our government will work for all sections and communities of Jharkhand. He said that Hemant Soren’s government has done very good work.
