Chhattisgarh to Receive Energy from Thermal and Nuclear Power as Well

Raipur, March 10, 2025 – Chhattisgarh is now rapidly moving towards an energy revolution. At the ‘Chhattisgarh Energy Investors Summit’ held in Raipur today, several major companies announced investments of over 3 lakh crore. This investment will kickstart new electricity generation projects in the state in areas such as nuclear, thermal, solar, and pumped storage. This will not only benefit industries but also provide affordable and continuous electricity to the general public.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai says that this investment in Chhattisgarh’s energy sector will take the state’s electricity generation capacity to new heights and pave the way for a green future by promoting renewable energy. Our goal is for Chhattisgarh to not only become self-reliant in energy but also establish itself as an energy hub for the entire country.

Chhattisgarh is already producing 30,000 MW of electricity, which is higher than the national average. Now, every individual is receiving 2048 kilowatt-hours of electricity, meeting the state’s energy needs.

In the field of nuclear energy, NTPC plans to set up a 4200 MW capacity nuclear power project at a cost of ₹80,000 crore. This will mark the beginning of electricity generation from nuclear energy in Chhattisgarh.

Significant investments have also been announced in the thermal power sector. Adani Power will invest ₹66,720 crore to set up three thermal power plants with a capacity of 1600-1600 MW in Korba, Raigarh, and Raipur. Jindal Power will invest ₹12,800 crore for 1600 MW electricity generation in Raigarh, while Sarda Energy will invest ₹5,300 crore for a 660 MW capacity plant in Raigarh. Additionally, government companies NTPC and CSPGCL will generate 4500 MW of electricity at a cost of ₹41,120 crore.

Chhattisgarh has also achieved significant success in the solar energy sector. Jindal Power and NTPC Green together will invest ₹10,000 crore to generate 2500 MW of solar power. This includes a 500 MW solar plant in Dolesara and a 2000 MW solar plant in Raigarh.

There is also good news for farmers. Under the PM Kusum Yojana, 675 MW of solar power will be generated at a cost of ₹4100 crore and 20,000 solar pumps will be installed. This will provide farmers with affordable electricity for irrigation and reduce the need for diesel pumps.

In addition, pumped storage projects with a capacity of 8700 MW will also be started at a cost of ₹57,046 crore. This includes 1800 MW by SJN Kotpali and 3000 MW by Jindal Renewable.

Through all these investments, Chhattisgarh will soon be among the largest energy-producing states in the country. This will benefit industries, farmers, and the general public, and also strengthen the state’s economy.
