Raipur, November 15, 2025/ A historic moment was witnessed yesterday in Kathia village of Bemetara district, when under the Chhattisgarh Bamboo Pilgrimage Conception Conference program, a grand event, “Chhattisgarh Bamboo Pilgrimage Conception Ceremony,” dedicated to India’s tallest and 140 feet high Bamboo Tower, was organized. This event became a matter of pride not only for Bemetara but for the entire Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Sao, and Cabinet Minister Mr. Dayaldas Baghel were specially present at this grand ceremony.

Hoisting the tricolor on the 140 feet high Bamboo Tower, Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai said that this structure is not just a bamboo construction, but a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s tradition, skill, innovation, and vast potential. He appealed for environmental protection and the spread of bamboo-based agriculture by planting bamboo saplings. The Chief Minister inspected the bamboo product manufacturing units, factories, and processing centers established at the ceremony site and interacted with villagers and artisans to get detailed information about their livelihoods.

Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is creating new dimensions of development, innovation, and progress today. By building the world’s tallest bamboo tower, the state has established its unique identity at the national level. He said that bamboo-based industries, rural economy, handicrafts, agro-industries, and modern construction techniques are creating immense possibilities in all these areas. The government is implementing large-scale employment generation schemes for farmers, artisans, and youth.

Addressing the farmers, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Sao said that in the face of changing climate and water crisis, bamboo cultivation is emerging as a better option for farmers. He informed that bamboo grows rapidly with less water. It prevents soil erosion and increases greenery. Its demand in the market is continuously increasing. He said that Bemetara district has been struggling with water scarcity in previous years. In such a situation, by adopting bamboo along with traditional crops, farmers can double their income. Bamboo-based industries are paving the way for vast employment opportunities for youth.

Cabinet Minister Mr. Dayaldas Baghel said that bamboo cultivation and industry can prove beneficial for the rural economy. He said that water scarcity is a major challenge in Bemetara district, so adopting bamboo cultivation as an alternative to paddy will be profitable for farmers. This crop conserves water and generates local employment on a large scale. He urged farmers to move towards bamboo cultivation, which will increase their income.

Bemetara MLA Mr. Dipesh Sahu, Collector Mr. Ranbir Sharma, SSP Ramkrishna Sahu, Chairman of Washermen Development Board Mr. Prahlad Rajak, District President Mr. Ajay Sahu, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Mr. Pasha Patel, former MLA Mr. Awadhesh Chandel, Mr. Rajendra Sharma, along with a large number of farmers, Sarpanchs, public representatives, and villagers were present at the program.
