As part of its anti-corruption drive, the Chhattisgarh government has suspended 22 excise officials. The action is related to the 3200 crore liquor scam that unfolded during the previous government’s tenure. The suspended officials are accused of accumulating illegal wealth, amounting to approximately 88 crore rupees, through corrupt practices between 2019 and 2023. The government is determined to eliminate corruption. The government is investigating various alleged scams and is committed to transparent and honest governance. The government has implemented measures to curb the sale of counterfeit liquor, and is using tools like the GEM portal, the e-office system, and Single Window System 2.0 to make things better.
