Chhattisgarh Makes New History in the Elimination of Naxalism: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai

Raipur, December 13, 2025/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said today in a press conference held in Rajnandgaon that the two-year tenure of the Chhattisgarh government has become a decisive turning point in the state’s history. He stated that the state is rapidly moving towards the target set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah—complete elimination of Naxalism from the entire country by March 31, 2026. He added that the Naxal movement’s strength is breaking and it is now counting its last breaths. Shri Sai mentioned that in the past two years, security forces have achieved unprecedented success. More than 500 Naxal encounters have been neutralized, while over 4,000 Naxalists have surrendered or been arrested, clearly indicating the weakening of Naxalism. He noted that the valor of the security forces has given Bastar a decisive advantage against decades-old entrenched violence. He provided details of the state’s new rehabilitation policy, which includes approval of 15,000 Prime Minister housing units for surrendered Naxalists, monthly financial assistance of ₹10,000 for three years, skill development training, and employment-related programs. Shri Sai said that “moving away from a language of gunfire to mainstream inclusion” is becoming a reality in Bastar. Innovations such as Pandum Café symbolize social transformation today. He mentioned that as security camps rapidly open in Bastar and administrative reach expands, more than 400 villages have been resettled. Through the Niyad Nella Nar scheme, basic services such as roads, electricity, drinking water, health facilities, and education are reaching these areas. He quoted that where gunfire used to sound, today school bells ring. Several villages have had flag-raising ceremonies after years, voters participate fearlessly in elections, and facilities from ration cards to mobile networks are now easily accessible. Shri Sai described Bastar as a major hub for future development, with unprecedented opportunities for agriculture, irrigation, forest products, livestock, and small industries. He highlighted that the new Industrial Policy (2024–30) includes special provisions for Naxal-affected areas, promoting forest product-based value addition, processing, and rural entrepreneurship to link local youths to employment and sustainable income. He also noted that giving tourism an industrial status is making Bastar rapidly recognized on the global map, with sites like Kutumsar caves, waterfalls, Abu Jah Mad forests, and tribal cultural heritage becoming global attractions. The homestay model is flourishing and strengthening the rural economy. Finally, he said that this historic progress in eliminating Naxalism is a victory for the state’s martyrs, the relentless efforts of security forces, and the public’s trust. He expressed confidence that, in line with the resolutions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Bastar will be freed from Naxalism and join the mainstream of development.
