Three mine workers, two of them women, sustained injuries following an explosion at the Chirmiri open cast coal mine in Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district on Monday. The blast occurred during a routine blasting operation preparation, when workers were in the process of laying explosives. The premature detonation caused debris to impact the workers and equipment. Prompt medical attention was provided, with the injured workers admitted to the SECL regional hospital in Kurasia. Their conditions are reported as stable, with no life-threatening concerns. An internal investigation has been launched to ascertain the root cause, with a technical fault suspected. Safety measures and operational procedures are under scrutiny to prevent recurrence.
