    Chhattisgarh ranks first in the entire country in water harvesting through public participation.

    Raipur, 12 November 2024/Chhattisgarh ranks first in the entire country in water harvesting through public participation. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has congratulated and congratulated the officers and employees of the Water Resources Department for their remarkable achievement on this initiative started by the Central Government. In the state of Chhattisgarh, under the water harvesting, public participation initiative, one lakh 53 thousand 533 works of water harvesting have been completed and 10 thousand 872 works are in progress. In the implementation of this program, 8 districts of Chhattisgarh have made their place among the first 10 districts of the country.

    In Chhattisgarh, Raipur district ranks first in water harvesting works through public participation, where 35 thousand 758 water harvesting works have been completed and 5064 works are in progress. Bilaspur is at second place, where 16,389 works have been completed and 1643 works are in progress. Raigarh district is in third place, where 16,629 works have been completed and 662 works are in progress. Balodabazar-Bhatapara district is in fourth place, where 16,730 works have been completed and 300 works are in progress. The fifth place is Balrampur-Ramanujganj district, where 8618 works have been completed and 586 works are in progress. Gariaband district is at sixth place, where 6899 works have been completed and 634 works are in progress. Durg district is at seventh place, where 4915 works have been completed and 609 works are in progress. Dhamtari district is at tenth place, where 3706 works have been completed and 107 works are in progress.

    It is noteworthy that the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Initiative is a reflection of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's unwavering resolve to make water conservation a national priority. This initiative emphasizes the importance of public participation in water conservation and realizes the concept of water conservation through collective initiative and solidarity. The major objective of the scheme is to lay special emphasis on construction of artificial recharge structures, borewell recharge shafts, among other activities, which will increase the storage capacity and help in enhancing ground water recharge.
