Security forces in Chhattisgarh have achieved a significant success with the surrender of 50 Naxal insurgents in the Kanker district. A striking feature of this surrender is the large number of women involved, totaling 32. The group also surrendered 39 firearms. The surrender took place at the Kamtera camp, involving cadres influenced by senior leaders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam. Officials have stated that this event deals a considerable blow to the Maoist insurgency in the Maad region. Among those surrendering are several commanders and key members of the Naxal hierarchy. This surrender is believed to be the first from the northern Maad region, with intelligence suggesting approximately 120 more Naxals are preparing to surrender in the Bijapur district. Enhanced outreach programs are in place to support the transition of these former militants back into society.
