A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan sustained injuries to his legs after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, on Sunday afternoon. The explosion occurred at 1:45 PM in a forest area near Gogunda, falling under the Fulbagdi police station. The jawan, serving with the 74th Battalion, was on an area domination patrol when he inadvertently triggered a pressure IED. Immediate first aid was administered before he was airlifted to Raipur for comprehensive medical treatment. This region, particularly the Bastar division, is prone to IED attacks by Naxalite groups who plant them to disrupt security operations and target personnel. The threat extends to civilians, who have been victims of such devices previously. This incident follows a tragic IED blast on June 9th in Sukma, which tragically killed an Additional Superintendent of Police and wounded two other officers, underscoring the persistent dangers faced by those combating insurgency in the area.
