Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district has seen a major shift in its fight against Naxalism with the surrender of 50 Maoist fighters, including 32 women. This significant surrender also involved the handover of 39 weapons, marking a tangible success for security forces. The cadres, led by senior commanders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, laid down their arms at the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion camp in Kamtera. The surrendered group also contained key figures like five DVCM-rank individuals and 21 ACM-rank members. This development is particularly crucial as it represents the initial wave of surrenders from the northern Maad region. Security agencies are optimistic about further gains, with an estimated 120 more Maoist cadres expected to surrender in Bijapur district by Thursday. Ongoing community engagement and outreach efforts are focused on encouraging disillusioned insurgents to return to mainstream life.
