The Chhattisgarh government has launched a significant upgrade to its tax payment system, now allowing taxpayers to settle Goods and Services Tax (GST) dues using credit cards, debit cards, and UPI. This eagerly anticipated feature addresses persistent demands from the state’s business community, moving past the earlier restrictions to only net banking and over-the-counter transactions.

This digital payment advancement, a key initiative under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Finance Minister OP Choudhary, is set to dramatically improve the tax filing experience. The goal is to make the process faster, more transparent, and significantly more convenient for all businesses and traders in Chhattisgarh.

Trade bodies had consistently pointed out the challenges posed by the previous payment methods, citing issues such as transaction failures and poor integration with the GST portal. These problems often led to missed deadlines and added complications, especially for new and small enterprises. The new digital options are designed to provide a seamless alternative.

Finance Minister OP Choudhary articulated that this reform is vital for strengthening the ease of doing business and reflecting the administration’s dedication to transparent digital governance.

Using these modern payment channels is now straightforward and secure via the official GST portal (www.gst.gov.in). The government emphasizes its commitment to making governance more accessible and transparent, aiming to cultivate a trust-based tax ecosystem. This digital leap is expected to enhance departmental operations and improve revenue collection, solidifying Chhattisgarh’s position as a forward-thinking state in India’s digital tax administration.
