Orange Alert: The following districts are under an orange alert: Kondagaon, Kanker, Dhamtari, Balod, Rajnandgaon, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Raipur, Baloda Bazar, Janjgir-Champa, Bilaspur, Korba, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Durg, Bemetara, Kabirdham, and Mungeli. These areas are expected to experience thunderstorms, strong winds (30-40 kmph), and moderate to heavy rainfall.

Yellow Alert: A yellow alert has been issued for Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Bastar, Narayanpur, Raigarh, Jashpur, Surguja, Surajpur, Korea, and Balrampur, with a possibility of light rain and strong winds.

Rain’s Impact: Heavy rains have caused waterlogging in Bilaspur, with homes in Parijat Colony and Nehru Nagar affected. The region has also faced power outages and water supply issues. In the past 23 days, Chhattisgarh has recorded approximately 300 mm of rainfall, with 198.2 mm recorded between July 1 and July 11. The average rainfall in the last 24 hours was 12.1 mm. Bilaspur recorded a high of 34.2 degrees, while Durg recorded a low of 21.6 degrees.

Recent Tragedies: Tragically, three people died due to lightning strikes in Surguja, and two minors drowned in the Jamrav Anicut in Durg district. One body has been recovered, and the search for the other is ongoing. The Raipur DEO office campus also experienced flooding, causing disruption.
