Chhattisgarh is at the forefront of a solar energy revolution, transforming consumers into energy producers. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai addressed a solar energy awareness and promotion campaign held at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur, emphasizing the importance of the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana in achieving the state’s clean energy goals. CM Sai flagged off the Surya Rath to educate people about solar energy benefits and the subsidies linked with the PM Suryaghar scheme. He also facilitated the online transfer of ₹1.85 crore in subsidies to 618 consumers, allocating ₹30,000 each. CM Sai highlighted that the state is actively promoting solar energy, aiming to move from subsidized electricity to a free electricity model. He urged the public to embrace and promote clean energy within their communities. He mentioned how the central and state governments are jointly providing subsidies, supported by banking facilities, with the eventual aim of providing completely free electricity to consumers. CM Sai also informed about the Letters of Award provided to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, which enables consumers to generate and sell solar power, thereby benefiting from cheaper electricity. He also emphasized the success of the Saubhagya Yojana in electrifying every household and the nation’s progression towards sustainable energy. He also mentioned the state’s significant increase in electricity production capacity and the substantial investment in the energy sector under the new industrial policy.
