Raipur, January 2, 2026/Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Cherchera, the famous folk festival of Chhattisgarh. He wished for the happiness, prosperity, and continuous progress of the state on this occasion.

Chief Minister Mr. Sai said that Cherchera is a festival symbolizing great donation, social harmony, and charity, which vividly expresses the rich, glorious, and value-laden tradition of Chhattisgarh. This festival is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm on the full moon day of Paush month to celebrate the arrival of new crops.

The Chief Minister said that on the same day, Maa Shakambhari Jayanti is also celebrated, which conveys the message of the protection of food, nature, and life. According to mythological belief, on this day Lord Shiva accepted alms from Mother Annapurna. In keeping with this tradition, people demonstrate mutual cooperation, compassion, and humanity by donating grains, vegetables, fruits, and other food items on the Cherchera festival.

Chief Minister Mr. Sai said that the Cherchera festival inspires us to strengthen the spirit of mutual love, harmony, and shared prosperity in society. He called upon all the people of the state to celebrate this folk festival with goodwill, joy, and traditional values.
