Chief Minister Shri Sai addressed the oath-taking ceremony of the Bastar District Journalists’ Association.

Raipur / This year, when I was reading the newspaper on New Year’s Day, Bastar was in the headlines. These headlines were not about Maoist violence; they were about the light of development reaching Bastar. Maoist terror has now shrunk from Bastar. Bastar’s identity has now changed. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said this while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the Bastar District Journalists’ Association. He said that Bastar has its own challenges, and journalism in this challenging environment is also a challenging task. He expressed his gratitude for the efforts of all the journalists in reflecting the hopes, views, and problems of the common people of Bastar and presenting them before the government and administration.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sav said that as the fourth pillar of democracy, journalists should uphold the high ideals of journalism, inform the public about the good work of the government, and also point out the shortcomings. Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap said that Bastar’s journalists have played an important role in establishing new dimensions of journalism.

In the program, Chief Minister Shri Sai administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers of the Bastar District Journalists’ Association and congratulated and wished them well for the new year along with their new responsibilities. Mr. Manish Gupta, President of the Bastar District Journalists’ Association, gave the welcome address. Sports Minister Shri Tankram Verma and a large number of journalists were present on this occasion.
