Central Minister Chirag Paswan revealed his possible participation in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. He stated that his focus is on improving the performance of his Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), emphasizing that he is not vying for the Chief Minister’s chair. The strike rate is the percentage of seats won out of the total seats contested.

He believes a stronger strike rate for his party will assist the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). During a press conference in Hajipur, the MP from Hajipur denied that he is aiming for the Chief Minister’s position. He expressed his disapproval of efforts to cause discord within the alliance.

Paswan mentioned that his party’s parliamentary board will decide whether he will contest the elections. He also noted that the BJP frequently fields its national leaders in state elections. The Bihar assembly elections will be held later this year.

Paswan, 42, clarified, ‘I want to make it explicit that if I participate in the assembly elections, it will only be to improve my party’s strike rate, thus helping the NDA. I am disappointed by the efforts to misrepresent that I am interested in becoming Chief Minister.’

In the 2020 assembly elections, Chirag Paswan, the former president of the Lok Janshakti Party, caused a split, which led to a reduction in the number of seats won by the Janata Dal-United (JDU). Currently, Chirag predicts that the NDA, under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, will establish its strongest government in Bihar after the elections.

The Union Minister announced that his party will begin its election campaign with a rally in Ara, the headquarters of Bhojpur district, on Sunday. His party intends to nominate him from an unreserved constituency. It’s anticipated that Chirag may choose a legislative seat from the Shahabad region, including Bhojpur and surrounding districts. The Union Minister did not elaborate, stating that his party plans to hold more rallies before the elections. Each rally will encompass five to six districts.
