Citroen has launched the C3X SUV in India, aiming to challenge the dominance of vehicles like the Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. With an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹7.91 lakh, the C3X represents Citroen’s strategic move to capture a larger share of the market. Based on the Citroen C3 platform, the C3X incorporates enhanced features and is explicitly marketed as an SUV, differing from the C3’s designation as a ‘hatch with a twist’.
The C3X is available with multiple variants; the naturally aspirated manual model starts at ₹7.91 lakh ex-showroom, with the turbo automatic version reaching up to ₹9.89 lakh ex-showroom. Customers have the option to add the HALO 360-degree camera system. Bookings are now open, with deliveries scheduled to commence from the beginning of September 2025. In India, the C3X will also contend with popular models such as the Hyundai Exter and Maruti Fronx.
Two petrol engine options are offered with the C3X: a 1.2-liter PureTech 82 naturally aspirated engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and a 1.2-liter PureTech 110 turbocharged engine, which can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Citroen claims that the turbo variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds and achieve fuel efficiency up to 19.3 km/liter.
Safety features include 6 airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a TPMS, a high-speed alert, and a parametric alarm. The C3X also incorporates the Citroen Advanced Comfort Suspension, specifically engineered for Indian roads to ensure a comfortable ride.
The C3X boasts 15 additional features compared to the standard C3, including passive entry with proxy sensors, a push start system, segment-first hands-free access, cruise control with a speed limiter, the HALO 360-degree camera system, an auto-dimming IRVM, LED projector headlamps, LED projector fog lamps, LED DRLs, and LED interior lighting. The interior also has a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a tropicalized automatic AC system. A rear USB Type-C charging port and a 315-liter boot space add to the vehicle’s practicality.
