The landscape of aerial security has been transformed with India’s debut of the Indrajaal Ranger, a state-of-the-art, AI-enabled mobile anti-drone patrol vehicle. Developed by the Hyderabad-based firm Indrajaal Drone Defence, this innovative solution represents a significant leap in protecting sensitive areas from malicious drone activity.

The Indrajaal Ranger is engineered for dynamic operations, possessing the ability to detect drones from an impressive 10 kilometers away. Its offensive capabilities allow it to neutralize detected threats from up to 4 kilometers, providing a comprehensive defense solution. This is particularly vital for India, where drones are increasingly weaponized for smuggling, surveillance, and the covert delivery of hazardous materials across its borders and within cities.

A live demonstration at Hyderabad’s T-Hub highlighted the vehicle’s potential to address critical security loopholes. The company’s leadership stressed its importance in securing border regions and preventing illegal trafficking of contraband and weapons. The system’s advanced AI, dubbed SkyOS by Green Robotics, allows for automated threat identification and engagement, significantly reducing response times.

Manufactured entirely in India and compliant with ARDTC standards, the Indrajaal Ranger is cleared for widespread deployment across military and civilian applications. The company anticipates the first units to be operational in the near future, targeting key zones like border crossings and vital infrastructure. The vehicle is built on the highly capable Toyota Hilux 4×4 platform, designed to traverse challenging terrains with ease.

Its robust exterior is fitted with advanced threat-detection sensors and integrated counter-drone systems. The operator’s cabin is a high-tech environment featuring multiple touchscreens for comprehensive monitoring and control, along with responsive steering-wheel mounted controls for rapid intervention. The powertrain, utilizing a 2.8L diesel engine from Toyota, ensures strong performance and endurance for extended missions.
